We are experiencing beautiful Mid-February weather here at the Schiewe Homestead. The sun is shining, the sky is my favorite color of blue and the birds are singing! Spring Fever is definitely spreading in full force. I have to do everything in my power not to get out into our gardens to root around and rearrange the flowers because we all know that this 'fever' is just a little tease that Mother Nature gives us each winter. In Colorado, the next big snow storm is always just around the corner. Patience, I tell myself. Spring will come. Until then, there is still plenty of skiing to be done, plenty of books to be read, and plenty of daydreaming to be done before the bittersweet labor of gardening begins! Follow us, as we share a season in the life of the Schiewes. We will be posting photos and commentary from our 'Urban Homestead' as it transforms through the seasons. From seed to fruit to harvest to table and all stops in between, we will share our trials and triumphs as we make this small plot of land within the suburbs our utopia.
